The Dive Guide/Divemaster candidate will assist with courses, have the opportunity to lead dives, supervise divers and students both on the surface and underwater.

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader. Through theoretical sessions, water exercises, and practical assessments, you will develop the skills to organize and manage diving activities.
Topics include:
- The role and characteristics of a PADI Dive Guide/Divemaster
- Supervising diving activities and assisting dive students
- Diver safety and risk management
- Programs conducted by a Divemaster and specialized skills
- The business of diving and your career
- Aquatic environmental awareness
- Dive preparation and management
- Mapping a dive site
- Conducting dive briefings
- Organizing a research and recovery project and a deep dive
PADI Divemasters can:
- Conduct a scuba review and a skin diver course
- Assist with Discover Scuba Diving programs
- Lead Discover Local Diving programs
Professional SSI Dive Guides in active status can:
- Teach, supervise, and issue recognition cards for the SSI Snorkel Diver course
- Qualify as an SSI Divemaster after completing the Specialty Science of Diving
Through the Dive Guide/Divemaster course, you may earn academic credits. Ask your instructor how to do so.
