Description
Extended Range course provides divers with the training necessary to independently plan and conduct decompression dives, with double tanks or sidemount, to a maximum depth of 45 meters using decompression gas mixtures with an oxygen content up to 100% for a maximum decompression time of 25 minutes.
MORE INFO
The program is developed and intended for the use of trimix as a breathing gas to reduce inert gas narcosis, and increase diver safety. However, the course can be conducted using air as bottom gas. In this case, the Extended Range certification is issued.
To independently dive using trimix, it is necessary to complete during the course the academic sessions, dives and assessments related to the use of trimix, as indicated by the instructor, necessary for the issuance of the SSI Extended Range Trimix certification.
Requirements
Have logged a minimum of 50 total dives
To obtain the certification you must have the Deep Diver and the Enriched Air Nitrox 40 certifications or equivalent issued by a recognized training agency.
For students adopting a Sidemount configuration (in addition to the above requirements) you must have the SSI Recreational Sidemount Diving certification, or equivalent.
At the discretion of the instructor, open water dives 1 and 2 of the Technical Extended Range course may be credited by the Extended Range course.
Included: training materials, equipment rental and certification.
Not included: Nitrox and Trimix refills.
