Description
Tech 2 course teaches how to handle dives up to 60 meters with two decompression cylinders, greater complexity of team protocols, gas changes and emergency procedures.
MORE INFO
What you’ll learn
Introduces the use of hypoxic Trimix gasses (15/55), two decompressive cylinders (Nitrox 50 and O2) and the possible associated failures. It covers the topics relating to diving up to a depth of 60 metres, especially the workload created by multiple decompression cylinders. The Ratio Deco is used for the decompression calculation.
How long does it last
The Tech 2 course normally lasts 4-5 days.
Course Content
The course includes a minimum of six hours of theory and six dives (4 training dives and 2 dives experience with Trimix, all dives conducted using two deco cylinders). The last two dives can be conducted at a maximum depth of 60 meters and using Nitrox 50 and 100% oxygen up to one hour of total decompression. The exercises in the water are videotaped so the students can visually check their behaviour.
Diving in obstructed environments (caves or wrecks) is excluded. Phase cylinders can be added to the completion of the stage mini course.
Limits
Maximum depth is 60 meters, with two decompression tanks and, if the extension is applied (included in the course price), a single stage tank. Gasses: Nitrox 32, 25/25, 21/35, 18/45 and 15/55. The standard decompression gasses are Nitrox 50 and 100% O2. The maximum decompression time is one hour.
Prerequisites
- Minimum age of 21 years
- At least 200 dives, 75 with doubles and using a single stage and/or deco cylinder and 25 dives over 30 meters (using Helitrox). Students must have completed at least 25 personal training and setting dives to prepare for the Tech 2 course.
- UTD Tech1, or equivalents subject to evaluation.
- Able to swim at least 365 meters in under 14 minutes or at least 550 meters in 18 minutes with mask and fins.
- Able to swim at least 15 meters underwater without fins.
Required Equipment
Each student should have Tech 1 equipment and add these following :
- An AL40 decompression tank (approximately 6 liters).
- An AL80 stage tank (11 liters) if the relevant extension is desired.
- A primary reel with at least 60 meters of line for each team
Note: at Argentario Divers you will find all the equipment you will need for the course. Contact your UTD instructor before purchasing equipment.
Optional extensions
- Sidemount (if the course was carried out in Backmount configuration)
- Backmount (if the course was carried out in Sidemount configuration)
Included: some extra-course materials, equipment rental, certification and dives.
Not included: teaching material to be purchased on the UTD website and Nitrox/Trimix fills.
